Travel to Bhutan
Traveling to Bhutan is what alot of people get excited about. Bhutan is one of the few exotic places on earth where you can find nature at its best, happy and hospitable people, peace, pollution free air to breathe. It is the perfect destination if you want to get yourself away from the city life and wander through an almost untouched terrain. Bhutan being situated high in the Himalayas, it offers various trekking tours also.

You can travel to Bhutan through the entire year depending on when you booked your trip from local bhutan tour operators. The Government of Bhutan is promoting clean and green tourism, so it has some restrictions laid on the number and the type of tourists coming to Bhutan. Most of the tourists who travel to bhutan are in the older age bracket, but things are changing now. More and more young thrill seeking tourists visit the country for the various tours and trekking packages the tour companies offer.
Some of the places that you should visit when you travel to Bhutan are the various festivals which are performed in large castle like buildings called dzongs. Apart from the festivals the Dzongs are also some of the things that are uniquely found in Bhutan. These huge buildings house the administrative wing of the state. Each state in Bhutan has a Dzong. After Bhutan festivals and Dzongs, are the various musuems, the national library in Thimphu, Ta-Dzong in Paro, small and big handicraft stores, monastries, temples, and alot of scenery.
After getting to the country, the best way to travel Bhutan is on foot. The towns are small, so you can almost cover a whole town on foot in a few hours and if you like trekking, there are many trekking paths the government has made for the sole purpose of tourism.
Bhutan is a non-smoking country, the first ever to ban the sale of tobacco, cigarette and tobacco products. You will not be able to buy cigarettes in Bhutan, though most shops sell them illegallly. Bhutan is also very serious about litter, and if you are caught throwing ur trash in public places, you will most likely be fined.
Some of the things you would need when you travel to bhutan are :
1. a guide book/map of the town you are visiting.
2. a book which has a list of all the places that are popular with tourists.
3. a bottle of water
4. warm clothing, as most parts of Bhutan is cold even during the summers.
5. sun block/cream. Due to low humidity, chances of you getting sun burnt is high especially when you go around places on foot during the day.
The night life in Bhutan is not so vibrant but that should not bother you. Most people traveling to Bhutan are tired by the end of the day, and they prefer to retire early after a nice Bhutanese dinner. If you are the type of person who does not tire easily, or who likes to have fun during the nights, there are nightclubs in most parts of Bhutan. Most play hip hop/rap/rnb music and are packed with students and young working people. There are also pubs and bars where you can get any drink that you want, though the special Bhutanese local brewed alcohol would not be available.
The bhutanese local alcohol commonly called ara is a favourite among tourists. It tastes alot more like the Japanese “sake”. If you would like to have a drink of ara, your guide is the person that you should ask. He will know where to get it.
Traveling to bhutan can be real easy and peaceful. Most of everything will be taken care of by the tour company and its staff of seasoned guides. The government has made it mandatory for every who wishes to become a tour guide to appear and pass a certain exam. This ensures that the guide is capable of communicating very effectively in English and fluent with all the places in Bhutan. Also, the transportation, hotels and fooding are all taken care of by the tour companies.
So traveling to bhutan is all about giving keeping yourself from worrying about small things, and enjoy every little thing the peaceful country has to offer.
