Bhutanese Music
Bhutan music or Bhutanese music is a very old form of music, especially the zhungdra and the boedra. However the rigsar is the new modern music which is spun out of bhutan movies which are being released all the time. Most Bhutan music or the rigsar involves love songs which are incorporated into the bhutanese movies as their soundtrack.
Some of the well known bhutanese singers or artists liked by the masses are Dechen Pem, Rinchen Namgyal, Cencho Dorji, Nidup Dorji and Namkha Lhamo.
People of Bhutan prefer the rigsar music to the zhungdra or the boedra music, as it is fast paced and makes listening enjoyable and entertaining, not that zhungdra or boedra are not entertaining, they are just not that appealing to the majority of the people, most of them being young ones.
Some of the few instruments which have been originated in Bhutan are the dramgyeng or the Bhutanese guitar, which is in a way like the normal guitar, but produces a different kind of sound when strummed.
As of late the Bhutan music industry have come of age, alot of new music studios have opened up, most of them producing quality music. Norling Drayang is one of the very few established music studios. They have produced a lot of Bhutanese music albums and have been in the music industry at a time when there very only one or two studios.
