The capital of Bhutan is Thimphu city, which is located in central Bhutan. Thimphu is Bhutan’s most populous state(Dzongkhag) and also the most developed state(Dzongkhag) in the country.

People from all over the country migrate to the capital of Bhutan, Thimphu, in search of employment and better oppurtunities. The city is about two hours journey by road from Paro and six hours by road from Phuntsholing, the bordering town which borders Bhutan and India.

Thimphu is believed to be the only capital city of a country in the world which till date has no traffic signals or an airport.
The population of the state is estimated to be about 150,000 which is about one fifth of the entire country’s population.

The climate in Thimphu is pleasant during the summer months which rises to a maximum of 25′C, however it gets extremely cold during the winter months, with the mercury dipping below the freezing point. The capital of Bhutan, Thimphu, experiences snowfall once or twice during the winter months which runs from october to early march. The moonsoon period occurs in the summer and it lasts from two to four months. The summers in Thimphu are pleasant, with a bit of rainfall, and the place is covered in green, which does make the place look very beautiful and attractive.
Winters in Thimphu are dry and windy, and the place does look a little bit barren as well with all the trees and plants drying up in the dry cold season.
